Lease agreed for Old Engine House, Townhill

City of Dunfermline Area Committee has agreed proposals to lease the Old Engine House in Townhill to a local business.

This will bring an unused Common Good asset back into use and generate income for the local community.

The Old Engine House, which forms part of the Dunfermline Common Good, had been used for storage by a commercial tenant for more than 40 years. Following consultation, the property was advertised for lease and an offer was received in line with planning guidance. Leasing the building will generate income that will go into the Common Good Fund.

Area Committee Convener Cllr James Calder said: This is a positive step that brings the building back into active use for the benefit of the local area.

“By leasing the Old Engine House, we’re making sure this Common Good asset continues to generate value for the community. Income from the lease will support the Common Good Fund, helping us reinvest locally and protect these important assets for future generations.”
