The Area Committee approved a package of funding to support community groups and activities across Dunfermline for 2026/27.
At the City of Dunfermline Area Committee on 31 March 2026, they agreed:
- Up to £50,000 to support projects led by Dunfermline’s nine active Community Councils,
- £20,000 for the Community Holiday and Event Chest Fund, helping groups run free or low‑cost activities across the city,
- £6,000 to support the work of Tenants and Residents Associations, and
- £10,000 contribution to Dunfermline Children’s Gala 2026.
Together, these funds aim to strengthen local decision‑making, increase opportunities for residents, and help reduce barriers faced by people during the ongoing cost of living pressures.
Community Councils
Community Councils will be able to apply for a share of up to £50,000 to deliver projects that matter to their neighbourhoods. This could include improvements to parks and green spaces, seasonal community events, floral displays, or small grants for local groups.
Each Community Council will submit a business case for their plans', ensuring funding is used where it can make the biggest difference locally.
Community Holiday and Event Chest Fund
The Committee also approved £20,000 for the Community Holiday and Event Chest Fund for 2026/27.
This funding will help local groups run community events and holiday activities that are free or low cost, making it easier for families to take part. In the past year, the fund has supported a wide range of activities, including summer fun days and free holiday clubs.
Simple application forms have been developed to make the fund easy for groups to access.
Tenants and Residents Associations
To support resident‑led improvements in neighbourhoods, £6,000 has been allocated to Dunfermline’s TRAs.
TRAs play a key role in organising local activities, improving shared spaces, providing information to residents, and helping shape local priorities. The funding will help groups cover costs such as community events, equipment, meeting expenses, and small local improvement projects.
Dunfermline Children’s Gala
Returning to Dunfermline’s Pittencrieff Park on Saturday 27 June 2026, Dunfermline Children’s Gala offers an entertaining and fun day out for Dunfermline’s families. Committee has agreed a contribution of £10,000 for this year’s gala.
Cllr Gordon Pryde, vice convener of the City of Dunfermline Area Committee said: “These funding approvals sit within the wider aim of building strong, resilient, and empowered communities across Dunfermline.
“By giving groups more control and resources, the Area Committee is supporting local people to deliver activities, make improvements and strengthen community connections.”
