People across the Glenrothes area will continue to receive practical support to set up and maintain their homes after councillors agreed to continue funding the Castle Furniture Home Hub Co-ordinator post.

The Home Hub service helps people access essential household items, furniture, clothing and practical support, including benefits advice, grants and other local services. Residents are able to choose the items that best meet their needs, helping provide support in a dignified way.

The service works closely with local organisations across the Glenrothes area, helping ensure people receive the right support at the right time and can be referred to other services when needed.

Councillors approved £21,670 from the Glenrothes Area Anti-Poverty Fund to continue supporting the post until the end of the 2026/27 financial year, alongside funding already agreed by members of the North East Fife Area Committee.

Councillor John Beare, Convener of Glenrothes Area Committee, said: "The Home Hub service provides practical support that can make a real difference to people when they need it most.

"As well as helping people access essential household items, it connects them with advice, grants and local services that can improve wellbeing and ease financial pressures.

"We're pleased to continue supporting a service that helps people in a practical, dignified way and ensures they can access wider support when they need it."
