Councillors have agreed funding to support the redevelopment of the Friary Playpark in Inverkeithing.
South and West Fife Area Committee approved an allocation of £10,000 towards the Friary Playpark Project. This project will see the replacement and modernisation of the children’s play area within the gardens located beside Inverkeithing Civic Centre.
Cllr Sam Steele, vice-convener of the South and West Fife Area Committee commented: “The Friary Playpark is a much‑loved local space, and this funding will help bring it back into use for children, families and the wider community.”
The total cost of the project is £170,550, with significant funding already secured from Fife Council’s Play Spaces Strategy, the McDonald’s Foundation and other sources. Further funding applications are currently under consideration.
The project is being led by Inverkeithing Trust, working closely with Fife Council. The Trust are taking the lead in designing the playpark and securing funding. A 2025 town‑wide survey helped shaped the playpark design, reflecting Inverkeithing’s heritage and children’s ideas.
