Fife schools celebrate Big Walk and Wheel success

Fife Council want to thank everyone who took part in The Big Walk and Wheel event this year!

The Big Walk and Wheel, organised by Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, took place from 16- 27 March 2026 and aims to inspire families to make active journeys to boost health, improve air quality and discover how these changes make a difference to the world around them.

Now in its 17th year, the annual event, sponsored by Schwalbe Tyres UK limited, saw schools across the UK compete to make the most journeys by walking, wheeling, scooting or cycling to school – with prizes on offer for schools logging their pupils’ active journeys to and from school.

Here in Fife we had more than 50 schools participating and, over the two-week period, 49,944 active journeys were recorded this year. So thank you to all for making a difference and helping to improve active travel to school!

We are delighted to announce the following winners of our three categories and also the winners of our Class awards, with awards and medals due to be handed out over the coming weeks.
