Fife Council has expanded its popular Go-Flexi demand-responsive transport service in West Fife, making flexible, sustainable travel available to more communities and for longer operating hours.
Go-Flexi is an on-demand bus service, funded by Fife Council and operated by Moffat & Williamson, offering residents in designated FlexiZones a convenient way to reach key destinations such as transport hubs, shops, health appointments, work, education and social activities.
Unlike traditional bus routes, Go-Flexi lets customers book their journey in advance, choosing pick-up and drop-off points at local bus stops within their zone.
Following a successful trial period in recent months, and due to passenger requests, Go-Flexi West Fife now operates:
- Monday–Thursday: 8.15am–5.30pm
- Friday and Saturday: 8.15am–11.15pm
John Mitchell, Head of Fife Council’s Roads & Transportation Services, said: “We know how important reliable, affordable and accessible transport is for people across West Fife.
“The expansion of Go-Flexi gives more communities the flexibility they need to travel for work, education, health appointments and everyday activities - even in areas where traditional bus routes aren’t always viable.
“By extending hours and improving connections with other forms of transport, we’re making it easier than ever for residents to get where they need to go while supporting our wider objectives around sustainability and inclusive access.
“This is another positive step in helping communities stay connected and ensuring no one is left behind.”
Go-Flexi is designed to complement - not replace - mainstream bus routes by providing onward connections at designated interchange points, helping residents reach wider Fife and national transport networks.
The service connects many West Fife communities, including Saline, Steelend, Bogside, Blairhall, Oakley, Comrie, High Valleyfield, Cairneyhill and Kincardine, and links the Forthbridgehead area with Cairneyhill, Ferrytoll, Europarc and Inverkeithing Rail Station.
Customers can book trips up to a week in advance and as late as one hour before travelling using the Go Flexi mobile app or by phoning the booking line.
Concession passes, cash and contactless payments are all accepted, and the service is accessible for wheelchair users, prams and assistance dogs.
The expansion will initially run until mid-August 2027, with £300,000 approved in Fife Council’s February budget to build on the trial which ran from December through to March.
