Essential repairs planned for Carnock Bridge retaining wall

Carnock Bridge, where the retaining wall is undergoing essential repairsEssential repair works to the retaining wall beside Carnock Bridge on the A907 will begin on Monday 27 July and are expected to take around four weeks to complete.

Fife Council's Roads and Transportation Services has appointed QTS Group Ltd. to carry out the works, which will help improve the long-term stability of the structure. The project will involve installing wall anchors, removing the upper section of the existing retaining wall and regrading the adjacent slope.

The retaining wall supports a footpath used by local residents, including those accessing the nearby school, and requires maintenance to ensure it remains safe for future use.

To allow the works to be carried out safely, the current lane closure on Carnock Bridge will be extended on both approaches to the bridge for the duration of the project. Traffic management measures will remain in place throughout the works, and a clearly signed pedestrian diversion route will be provided to maintain access while protecting public safety.

Michael Anderson, service manager for structural services at Fife Council said: "These repairs are important to ensure the retaining wall remains safe and stable for years to come. We appreciate that work will cause some inconvenience, but they are necessary to allow the work to be carried out safely and efficiently. We're sorry for the disruption.

"We would like to thank local residents, businesses and road users for their patience and co-operation while these essential repairs are completed."
