The Dunfermline New City Assembly has completed its work following its final meeting on 21 and 22 February.
Over recent months, a diverse group of Dunfermline’s residents have examined evidence, heard from experts and community voices and worked together to agree a set of recommendations for Dunfermline’s future. Their recommendations are in answer to the question “We all want Dunfermline to be a great place to call home. As our city grows and develops, how do we continue to improve our community for today and tomorrow?”.
The Assembly’s final report is now being prepared and will be published in the coming weeks. The Council will continue to work with the local public and partners to identify how we achieve the Assembly's recommendations.
Cllr James Calder, Convener of City of Dunfermline Area Committee said: “I want to thank every Assembly member for the time, thought and care they have given. It's was clear while I was observing on Sunday that much effort has been put in to this work.
"Their recommendations will help guide practical decisions about our city’s future. We’re committed to responding openly and taking forward what we can.”
Electoral Reform Society Scotland Director, Willie Sullivan said: "It's difficult to put into words how encouraging it was to observe this Assembly.
"A representative group of citizens worked incredibly hard to understand the challenges and to come up with some great recommendations in response to the question. Anyone who watched this could see they came from a place of pride and really caring for the place and the people. I want to thank them for that."
