Duloch Leisure Centre café now closed – new Health and Wellbeing Hub coming soon

The café at Duloch Leisure Centre in Dunfermline, operated by the council’s Facilities Management Service, has closed following several years of poor trading and sustained financial losses.

Head of Service, Tariq Ditta, explained: "Despite efforts to improve the service over the years, including changes to the menu and opening hours, the financial position has not improved. Continuing to operate at a significant loss is no longer sustainable.

"However, I’m pleased to confirm that Fife Sports and Leisure Trust will transform the existing café space into a new Health and Wellbeing Hub, creating an exciting opportunity for the local community."

The Health and Wellbeing Hub will provide an inviting, inclusive environment designed to encourage physical activity and social interaction.

Emma Walker, Chief Executive Officer, Fife Sports and Leisure Trust added: "Fife Sports and Leisure Trust are excited to move forward with plans to develop a dedicated Health and Wellbeing Hub. Launching this summer, the hub will represent a significant investment in the future health of our communities.

"We already deliver over 100 health and wellbeing classes each week across Fife, and this new space will allow us to further enhance our support for people living with long-term conditions, including cancer, arthritis, chronic pain, diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory conditions.

"The hub will provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals can feel confident, supported and empowered to be active in ways that meet their needs."

With the café now closed, refurbishment work will begin soon, and the new Health and Wellbeing Hub is expected to open by summer 2026. To maintain some refreshment provision, vending machines will also be installed.
