Council‑backed projects making a real difference across South and West Fife

Communities across South and West Fife are celebrating the success of local projects supported through Fife Council’s Community Recovery Fund (CRF).

Local groups have used the funding to grow food, support families, improve community spaces, increase learning opportunities and bring people together. Many projects are now complete, with others well underway and shaping up to bring lasting benefits.

Below are some of the projects funded so far:

Culross Community Crust – The Stables Hub - £35,726
Funding helped the Stables create a thriving community bakery and weekly warm‑welcome space. Their Community Crust sessions are now a regular hub of activity, with freshly baked bread, pizza nights, and social gatherings that bring people together. The bakery is often sold out, and its success has created more opportunities for local events and outdoor activities.

Rosyth Men’s Shed – new building - £40,029
Funding helped Rosyth Men’s Shed establish a new building, complete with essential utilities and outdoor works. The group expects to be fully operational by March, providing a busy community space for socialising, learning new skills and tackling loneliness.

North Queensferry Community Complex – green improvements - £40,000
The Complex installed solar panels, upgraded electrics and refurbished a community room. These improvements reduce running costs, support local businesses and help the centre operate more sustainably.

These projects show the imagination, energy and resilience of South and West Fife’s communities. Many of the initiatives funded have now become self‑sustaining, securing further investment or building strong partnerships.

Cllr David Barratt, Area Convener for South and West Fife, welcomed the progress: “It’s inspiring to see how local groups have used this funding to support their communities in such meaningful ways.

“The Community Recovery Fund has helped people come together, improve their local places and support one another at a time when it’s been needed most. I’m delighted to see so many positive outcomes and look forward to watching these projects continue to grow.”

Fife Council will continue working with groups to support delivery of the remaining projects.
