Council to safeguard Dysart Harbour and repair sea wall

Following the recent storms and high seas, which have caused significant damage to the sea wall, Councillor Ian Cameron, Convener of the Kirkcaldy Area Committee, has reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to protecting and preserving Dysart Harbour as an important and historic community asset by confirming the Council will repair the damaged sea wall.

Councillor Cameron said: “I’m delighted to be able to announce that Fife Council will be making the wall safe and hope to start the works in the next 2-3 weeks.  Dysart Harbour with sailing boats

“Dysart Harbour is a cherished part of our coastal heritage and an important community landmark. We are absolutely committed to preserving this historic harbour for future generations, ensuring it remains safe, functional and valued for many years to come.”

“Stopping things from getting worse is our immediate priority, and arranging this urgent work allows us to do exactly that. At the same time, we are working closely and constructively with Dysart Sailing Club to plan the full repair. Partnership working is key, and together we will look to ensure the harbour becomes a sustainable asset moving forward.”

Dysart Sailing Club, Commodore Martin Johncock, added: "Dysart Sailing Club would like to thank all involved in working together to commence repairs to safeguard the harbour and ensure there will be a future for this historic and important harbour."
