Councillors have approved funding to help Inverkeithing Town House become a welcoming, well‑used community space.
South and West Fife Area Committee approved £36,076 to support Inverkeithing Town House Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) during its first year of operation.
The funding will allow the SCIO to build on its volunteering and activity programme at the Town House, supporting events and activities for the local community.
Cllr Sam Steele, vice-convener of the South and West Fife Area Committee said: “This decision supports Inverkeithing Town House as it prepares to open to the community and deliver meaningful activity for locals.”
Inverkeithing Town House has undergone an extensive refurbishment as part of a wider heritage regeneration programme in the town. The building is now nearing handover and is expected to become operational shortly.
The approved funding will support dedicated staff time to co‑ordinate volunteers, promote the venue and deliver a programme of activities.
Proposed activities include community‑based events, wellbeing initiatives and opportunities to work alongside health professionals and local partners. The funding will also support the organisation to generate income through the hire of the building’s spaces, helping move the project towards long‑term sustainability.
