South and West Fife Area Committee has agreed to allocate £41,419 to support the area’s summer programme for 2026.

The funding will help deliver a wide range of free activities for children, young people and families across the area during the school holidays. All sessions will include access to food, helping to ease added pressures many households face over the summer period.

The programme has been developed in response to the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, which continues to affect families’ ability to access activities and afford meals during school holidays.

Working in partnership, Fife Council and local organisations will provide a mix of youth work, family learning and community-based activities across South and West Fife.

Young people will be able to take part in regular youth clubs, sports sessions and targeted support programmes, including transition support for those moving to high school or college. There will also be opportunities to build confidence, develop new skills and take part in trips and outdoor activities.

Family-focused activities will include fun days in local communities, cooking sessions to support healthy eating and budgeting, and a residential experience designed to build confidence, resilience and life skills.

As part of the programme, Café Inc will also run throughout the summer at a range of community venues, ensuring children, young people and families can access free meals in a safe and welcoming environment.

Cllr Dave Dempsey, Area Convener, said: “We know that the summer holidays can be a particularly difficult time for families, especially with the continued cost-of-living pressures. This programme will provide free activities, meals and support for children, young people and families across South and West Fife. It’s about making sure people feel supported, connected and able to access opportunities in their local communities.”
