Bulky uplifts will be suspended for one week from Monday 25 May, following the fire at Ladybank. All other household waste collections will continue as normal.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and centre staff are still dealing with the deep-seated fire at Lower Melville Woods waste centre, which has now been closed for 10 days and will remain closed for some time. In order to undertake recovery on the site and reset the service across Fife, it is necessary to temporarily suspend the bulky uplift service. All other household waste is being collected as normal.
Barry Neill, Head of Environment and Building Services, said: “We’d like to apologise to anyone who had bulky waste scheduled for pick up next week. We appreciate that this will be inconvenient for you but hope that you understand why it is necessary.
“It is testament to the dedication of all our staff that, despite the closure of Lower Melville Woods, there has been no disruption to household waste collection. I’d like to thank them all for the efforts they have made to keep things running smoothly. Now, we just need a little time to reset our service across Fife. We appreciate the public’s understanding.”
