Building work, to enhance security and safeguarding for pupils at Waid Academy, will take place over the school summer holidays, meaning some temporary changes for other services which are based at Waid Community Campus.
The necessary, six-week, building work will mean that the library service and customer service desk will be temporarily relocated, with reduced opening times from Wednesday 1 July until Friday 14 August inclusive. Community Use, Active Schools and Elite football activities will not be affected. The Community Cafe will be closed for the full six weeks.
A new secure entry door at the main entrance is being installed and new walls and entry doors between the public area and the main school building will be put in place.
Headteacher Scott Duncan described the work which will take place this summer and why it is needed. He said: “I’d like to apologise for any disruption this might cause but these works are being undertaken to enhance the existing safety and security and give greater operational resilience to the building. We have made alternative arrangements so that the community will still have some access to the library and customer services over the summer months and I’d like to thank everyone in advance for their patience and understanding as this important work goes ahead.”
The mobile library will be on site in front of the Waid building on Wednesdays 8 July, 22 July and 5 August from 10.30am to 3.30pm and on Mondays 13 July, 27 July and 10 August from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Fife Council Customer Services staff will be available in the mobile library on the above dates. Batteries for hearing aids can be collected there too.
