A new project to restore and artistically revitalise the Dunfermline City Station underpass is set to improve safety, cleanliness and civic pride in the area. The initiative will turn a neglected space into a welcoming gateway.
Committee has awarded £10,250 to support the project, covering artist commissioning, materials, installation and upkeep over a 17-month period. The investment is expected to deliver lasting social, economic and environmental benefits, helping create a safer and more attractive city centre for residents and visitors.
Cllr James Calder, Convener of the City of Dunfermline Area Committee, said: “This project is a great example of how creative thinking and community collaboration can tackle antisocial behaviour and improve public spaces. By investing in local design and long-term maintenance, we’re making Dunfermline safer, more welcoming and more connected.”
Fire Station Creative will co-ordinate the delivery and ongoing maintenance of the project, supporting its long-term impact in the community.
Committee also recommended a public consultation on the artwork is carried out prior to work starting.
