The Green Flag Award is the International benchmark of quality in a park or open green space and is awarded annually to parks that meet the very strict criteria of the Award system.
Fife's award winning parks are Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy, Letham Glen in Leven, and Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline.
Fife Council spokesperson Councillor Altany Craik commented: "This is really great news for Fife. These parks hold a special place in the hearts of many Fifers and I'm very proud that they have been recognised with these Internationally recognised awards. This clearly demonstrate the council’s commitment to providing and maintaining parks and open spaces for the recreation and wellbeing of everyone. They are free for us all to use and the recent spell of good weather has seen many people spending time enjoying parks and open spaces.
"I'd like to especially note the hard work of our Grounds Maintenance staff who put an enormous amount of effort into maintaining the parks along with a number of local community groups who also play their part. A huge well done to everyone involved and congratulations on having your efforts rewarded with a Green Flag."
The Green Flag Award recognises our best parks and green spaces across Scotland. It is awarded to parks and green spaces which can demonstrate excellent management and environmental standards.
