Fife Council and partners were announced category winners at The UK National GO Awards ceremony held in Liverpool last week.
The ceremony took place on 21 May at the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool. The UK National GO Awards has been recognising and celebrating the outstanding achievements of all organisations and individuals involved in the procurement and delivery of public sector services for more than 20 years.
Following on from four wins at the Go Awards Scotland last November, Fife Council in collaboration with Hub East Central Scotland and contractor Bam won Social Value Award, for their work on Dunfermline Learning Campus. During the construction of the two schools at Dunfermline Learning Campus, Fife Council worked with Hub East Central Scotland and Bam:
- awarding £20m in contracts to local suppliers,
- delivering over 1800 weeks of apprenticeships on the contract,
- donating nearly £75k to local community projects, and
- delivering a successful Build Fife Programme for local businesses, providing support to Fife construction and associated businesses with aspirations for growth.
This is an excellent example of Social Value in practice; organisations giving back to their communities, making a real difference in people’s lives.
Cllr Altany Craik, Fife Council’s Spokesperson for Finance, Economy, and Strategic Planning, said: “Congratulations to all the winners. They truly deserve this recognition.
“Fife Council is finding new and creative ways to tackle challenges, including environmental and financial ones. The Dunfermline Learning Campus is a great example of how working together can benefit the whole community.”
Fife Council, Hub East Central Scotland and Bam also received a Highly Commended in the Sustainable Procurement category.
