Over £1 million in new grant awards via Levenmouth Reconnected

Three major projects are set to benefit from more than £1 million in investment thanks to the Levenmouth Reconnected Programme.

The Levenmouth Reconnected Programme was established following the reopening of the Levenmouth Rail Link, with a £10 million fund - managed by Fife Council - dedicated to projects that strengthen connectivity, economic growth, and community wellbeing.

To date, £6.9 million has been awarded to 15 large-scale projects, alongside support for smaller initiatives.

Now Fife Council’s Levenmouth Area Committee has confirmed the latest round of funding, with a trio of initiatives to receive funding following a rigorous assessment process.

The sixth round of the Large Grant Fund will see support for the following projects:

  • Levenmouth Business Park Phase 2 – £683,496
Funding originally allocated to the Mountfleurie Industrial Estate project will be redirected to accelerate the second phase of development at Levenmouth Business Park. This will enable the construction of additional five industrial units, on top of the seven already completed, supporting local businesses and creating new employment opportunities.
  • CLEAR Buckhaven Community Hub – £107,941
This funding will help CLEAR Buckhaven develop a new community hub in College Street, Buckhaven, providing a vital space for local residents and groups to come together, access services, and participate in community-led initiatives.
  • FEAT Silverburn Flax Mill Restoration – Additional £250,000
The historic Silverburn Flax Mill project will receive additional funding to support restoration work and enhance visitor facilities. This investment builds on previous grants and ensures the site can deliver significant cultural and environmental benefits.

Councillor Alistair Suttie, Convener of the Levenmouth Area Committee, said: “These projects reflect the ambition of the Levenmouth Reconnected Programme to deliver lasting benefits for local communities and businesses.

“From heritage restoration to industrial development, this funding will help create opportunities and improve quality of life across the area.”

The approved projects were assessed against strict governance criteria and recommended by the LRP Working Group and Oversight Group.

Following these latest approvals, £1.43 million remains available in the Large Grant Fund for future projects.
