New sheltered council houses in Dunfermline

Fife Council is progressing an agreement with Campion Homes that will see the council deliver forty new, much needed council houses at Evershed Drive in the city.


Cllr Judy HamiltonCouncillors at Fife Council's Cabinet Committee on 29 May gave their approval and work is set to begin on site in July with an expected completion date of summer 2027.


The £9.23m development will consist of much needed sheltered housing and be a mix of one- and two-bedroom flats including thirteen wheelchair properties.  All will be equipped with sprinklers, air source heating and have electric vehicle charging points within car parking areas.  Funding for the development has come from the Scottish Government Affordable Housing Grant and Fife Council's Housing Revenue Account capital budget.


Welcoming the news, Fife Council's housing spokesperson Cllr Judy Hamilton, said: "I'm delighted that in the face of a housing emergency, we are continuing to deliver our ambitious Affordable Housing Programme, one of the country's largest social house-building programmes, while the pressure on housing services continues to be relentlessly high.

"Each new council house will deliver a warmer, healthier home that helps to improve the wellbeing of our tenants.”
