Staff, pupils, and local councillors from across the Levenmouth school cluster gathered at Levenmouth Academy on Thursday 12 June to celebrate their recent success in achieving the prestigious SportScotland School Sport Gold Award.
The celebration event, held from 3pm to 5pm, brought together school teachers, Active Schools Coordinators, pupils, and partners to mark the achievement and recognise the hard work and dedication that has gone into promoting physical activity and sport across the cluster.
The SportScotland School Sport Gold Award is a national accolade recognising schools for their commitment to providing high-quality physical education, sport and physical activity opportunities. The award also highlights efforts to promote leadership and inclusion, helping young people to lead active, healthy lives.
As part of the celebration, guests heard from inspiring speakers, including Derek Rae - Paralympian, Eilidh Doyle - Olympian, along with Shaun Byrne and Dylan Easton from Raith Rovers Football Club. Representatives from SportScotland also took part in an engaging workshop aimed at further strengthening sporting opportunities across the cluster. Councillors from across the Levenmouth area were in attendance to show their support and appreciation for the work being done in local schools to promote active lifestyles and wellbeing among young people.
Darren Robertson, Active Schools Co-ordinator for Levenmouth said: “Achieving Gold is a fantastic recognition of the incredible commitment shown by schools across the Levenmouth cluster. This event has been a brilliant opportunity to celebrate that success, say thank you to all the staff, pupils and partners who make it happen, and look ahead to how we continue to build on this achievement.”
The celebration follows the formal announcement of the Gold Award Sport Award earlier this year and reflects the strong partnerships between schools, Active Schools, sportscotland and the wider community.
