A successful pilot which has been helping young people in Levenmouth affected by substance misuse has been awarded funding of £31,334 to help extend the project. This match funding will help draw down financial support from the majority funder for the proposal, Corra.

The Transitions project has been delivered by Clued Up, which provides a comprehensive “youth friendly” substance use support/information service to young people aged 11 to 26 years in Fife, also targeting the wider issues of general well-being and lifestyle.

The pilot Transitions project, running since August 2023, provides early intervention, inclusion and progression support to young people in Primary 7 who are affected by substance use in the family and at risk of or using substances themselves.

Cllr Colin Davidson supported the funding request saying: “ We are hugely supportive of this project. We can see it having a great benefit to our young people and we are happy to help support the roll out of this to more young people.”

The funding will help Clued Up to deliver:

1. Detached youth work – two Fridays evenings per month targeting key hotspot areas to engage and build relationships with young people in their own environment.

2. One to one support – provided to young people who are referred, looking at how drugs/alcohol are affecting the lives of the young people.

3. Enhanced transitions programmes – Clued Up will provide young people with a programme which will prepare young people for their transition to high school, based on individual needs and group programmes during term time to prepare participants for transition.

4. School holiday group work programmes and summer residentials

5. Whole family support

6. Integration into universal provision in the community – Clued Up will support young people to build positive networks within their own community including peer support.

Committee agreed to the funding being made for the first year of the project and for a report on progress to be brought back to committee in six months.
