A new employability package for the Glenrothes area has received a funding boost of just over £91,000, thanks to the Glenrothes Area Committee.
The funding, from Fife Council’s Community Recovery Fund and Anti-Poverty Budget, will support a £262,995 employability package to help residents build skills, confidence and access job opportunities. The package will support four targeted programmes:
- Community Improvement Squad Academy (CISA)
- Cooking Academy
- Digital Academy
- Modern Apprentice Programme
These initiatives are designed to provide practical training and real-world experience for people of all ages and backgrounds in the Glenrothes area.
Councillor John Beare, Convener of the Glenrothes Area Committee, said: “This funding demonstrates our continued commitment to supporting people in the Glenrothes area into employment and training. By investing in practical programmes like these, we’re helping residents gain valuable skills and confidence to take the next step in their careers. I’m proud that the Glenrothes Area Committee is backing this important initiative.”
The impact of these programmes is already being felt. Michael Hamilton, a previous participant in the Community Improvement Squad Academy, was supported by Lauren Hamilton, Disability Employment Co-ordinator (DEC) with Fife Council. Michael went on to complete further training in Rural Skills, gain additional certificates, and has progressed onto temporary paid work with Fife Council.
Lauren said: “Michael felt that he got valuable training and skills from CISA in both a classroom and practical setting and his confidence improved greatly.”
