Councillors at Levenmouth Area Committee yesterday heard details of the widespread work delivered by the local Community Learning and Development (CLD) Team.

CLD teams across Fife are responsible for delivering a whole range of services within our communities but their work often goes on quietly in the background and isn’t always seen.

Each of the seven geographical areas across Fife have CLD teams who support various projects in youth work, adult and family learning and community capacity building.

Committee Convenor Cllr Colin Davidson commented: “I can’t say how much I appreciate the work our CLD staff carry out in Levenmouth. Most of this work is done behind the scenes and I’m so pleased to see this report before us which shows the wide reach, influence and positive contribution this team make in the area.

“Besides a range of positive community work the team have also been delivering a huge amount of our welfare support directly in our communities.”

Councillors were shown a long list of projects which have been very successful  in Levenmouth. These included working with and supporting local volunteers to help deliver a Community Cinema, Peoples Pantry Cook & Share, the Kennoway Pump Track, STEM activity working in partnership with local schools, Cooking for Life and the Unexpected garden.

Cllr Davidson said: “If anything the report before us today undersells the work that’s done locally. There’s a huge list of projects and work and I want to thank the whole team for the incredible work they do, along with all the volunteers who give their time to these projects. It’s partnership working like this which makes our community so strong.”

A list of the community work being done can be found within the committee papers.
