Cash boost for Dalgety Bay’s new pump track

Dalgety Bay is one step closer to an exciting new cycling facility thanks to a £65,000 funding award from the South and West Fife Area Committee.

The funding will support the creation of a community pump track—a looped bike skills circuit designed for riders of all ages and abilities—at the Dalgety Bay Sports and Leisure Centre. The project is being led by Dalgety Community Trust, a local charity working closely with young people to bring the vision to life.

The pump track will feature a 280-metre asphalt circuit with swooping turns and rolling features, ideal for bikes, scooters, skateboards and wheelchairs. It will be free to use and open year-round, with floodlighting included to allow for safe evening sessions.

Area Convener Cllr David Barratt said: “This is a fantastic example of a community-led project that will have a lasting impact. The pump track will be a safe, inclusive and fun space for people of all ages to get active, build confidence and enjoy the outdoors.

“I’m proud that the Area Committee is supporting something that’s been driven by local young people and volunteers.”

The total cost of the project is around £370,000, with most of the funding already secured. The Area Committee’s contribution will help cover rising costs for floodlighting and drainage, ensuring the track is safe and ready for all-weather use.

Construction is expected to begin soon, with the track set to become a new hub for cycling and wheeled sports in Dalgety Bay and beyond.
