The City of Dunfermline Area Committee has agreed to contribute £10,000 to support the organisation of next year’s Bruce Festival, scheduled for 30 and 31 May 2026.
The two-day festival celebrates Dunfermline’s rich heritage, including its royal, religious and industrial history. Visitors can look forward to a free, family-friendly event featuring historical re-enactments, jousting, staged battles, storytelling, music, arts and crafts, educational activities, a children’s fun fair and an artisan market.
The funding will help cover essential costs such as event setup, performer fees, security, insurance and on-site services. Organisers are also pursuing sponsorship and commercial income to make the festival sustainable.
Cllr James Calder, Convener of the City of Dunfermline Area Committee, said: “We’re proud to support the Bruce Festival, which celebrates our city’s unique history and brings people together in a vibrant, family-friendly setting. This event not only promotes pride in Dunfermline’s heritage but also contributes to our vision of making the city a great place to live, work and visit.”
