The City of Dunfermline Area Committee met this morning (Tuesday, 23 April 2024). Here's a summary of the discussion and decisions.
Budget Requests
Local Community Planning Budget
Dunfermline’s Children’s Gala 2024 - £10,000
Dunfermline Children’s Gala returns to Pittencrieff Park on Saturday 22 June 2024. Committee agreed to award £10,000 to the gala.
Cllr Calder stated: “The committee is happy to support this much-loved annual event. It’s a wonderful day for the community, bringing families together and creating memories.”
Community Recovery Fund
Kingdom Community Bank - £27,500
The City of Dunfermline Area Committee awarded funds to Kingdom Community Bank for financial inclusion work. £21,500 is for a 12-month part-time financial development worker for Dunfermline and £6,000 is for targeted project work.
The project aims to increase credit union members in Dunfermline and improve financial education in the area.
Cllr Calder explained: “It’s great to see projects like this coming forward, it’s tackling a key issue in our area by building financial resilience.”
Traffic Regulation Orders
Committee approved the following Traffic Regulation Order proposals:
A994 & Crossford – lower the 30mph speed limit on roads through Crossford to 20mph and lower the speed limit on A994 between Crossford and Cairneyhill to 40mph.
Dunfermline Learning Campus – introduce a 20mph speed limit on remaining roads in the vicinity of the new Fife College, St Columba’s and Woodmill High Schools and introduce “No Waiting at Any Time” on Old Muirhouse Road, Bracken Road and Sandpiper Drive.
Phoenix Lane, Dunfermline – extend the “No Waiting at Any Time” on Phoenix Lane, Dunfermline.
