Duloch Park tree planting

We’re planting nearly 6,000 trees in Duloch Park, Dunfermline.

In 2022, Dunfermline Area Committee agreed funding of £11,700 for a major tree planting scheme in Duloch Park. Recently, Cllr James Calder, area committee convenor visited Duloch Park and helped planting tree saplings.

Cllr Calder commented: “With so much development happening in Duloch, outdoor greenspace is vitally important.

“This tree planting will expand Calaismuir Wood and integrate it with the park. It’ll not only provide an outdoor space for the community, but it will also offer a wider habitat for local wildlife.

“It was great to join members of the community including Calais Woods Conservation Group, who have been involved in this too and would like to thank them for their efforts.”

The 2-hectare area, to the northeast of the park, is currently rough ground with some existing trees. We’ve contracted Rural Skills Scotland to plant almost 6,000 native Scottish trees, such as holly and rowan.

Stewart Christie, Rural Skills Scotland director said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Fife Council and the local community in order to expand tree cover in Fife.”

Planting is well along and should be complete this Spring.
