Stage Status: Consultation and final design
The former Westfield Industrial site is now being repaired and brought back to life. Future use will include a network of paths across the site, offering various active travel and leisure opportunities in the area. The expanded path network across the River Leven catchment area will connect many local settlements. The aim of this project is to provide a roadside path for active travellers to/from the Westfield entrance on the B9097, to/from Torres Loan path. We will be working collaboratively with external agencies, independent consultants, local community representatives and the Fife Coast and Countryside Trust.
The proposed new path along part of the B9097, between the Westfield entrance and the Torres Loan path, will enable active travel from nearby trip generators of Kinglassie to Lochore Meadows, a key section of a potential route from Glenrothes to Kelty. Other potential future links include Loch Leven, Kinross, Scotlandwell, Leslie, Bowhill, Cardenden, Ballingry, Crossill, Lochgelly, Lumphinnans and Cowdenbeath,
The works will involve installation of a new 3.0m wide path with a grass verge, located on the existing wide verge on the B9097. A formalised crossing point will be located near to the access to Torres Loan path.
