Burntisland - Glebe Place Active Travel Route

Stage status: Construction

The existing path from Glebe Place to the B923, Kirkcaldy Road, is in need of an upgrade. The improved path, passing Burntisland Primary School, will provide walkers and cyclists with a safer alternative to using sections of the main road, in particular, the A921 and B923.

Currently, the path between Glebe Place and the A909 is not wide enough for pedestrians and cyclists to use, and it is in poor condition. We propose to widen the path to 3 meters, install new lighting and improve signing.

We will also install a new link path to Kerr Court and the car parking area. This will provide a drop off area (park and stride) for primary school pupils.

Once complete, the new and upgraded paths will help people to travel in an active  manner to destinations such as:

  • the primary school
  • community centre
  • play park
  • Burntisland Shipyard Football Club

Timeline: The construction works will begin early in 2023, taking approximately 3 months.

Distance: 500m approx.

Approximate infrastructure investment: £100,000.
