Fife Bus, Fife Council’s Demand Responsive Transport Service (DRT), provides a free door-to-door transport for people who are unable to access mainstream public transport due to some form of reduced mobility.
The service is available across Fife 8:00am – 5:30pm (Mon - Sun), when there is most demand from customers. Bookings are only taken the day before travel, with Sunday and Monday bookings taken on a Friday. You can see what days the service is running in your area by looking at Fifebus Service by Town.
To ensure both service users and staff are kept safe, Covid-19 protection measures will be in place, including PPE for staff, enhanced cleaning and social distancing measures. This means that only two passengers can access the vehicle at any one time. As with other public transport services, passengers will be required to wear a face covering whilst travelling, unless they have an exempt medical condition.
At this time, the service will prioritise people who need to make essential trips, for example to attend medical appointments, GP visits, essential shopping trips etc.
Customers should note:
- There will be only two passengers on a vehicle at any given time.
- Drivers will apply strict hygiene measures, such as wiping down door handles/seat grips between journeys.
- Passengers will be required to wear face coverings.
- At the time of booking passengers will be asked if they are fit and well enough to travel. Those who are feeling unwell should refrain from travelling.
The council will continue to review the Fife Bus service in line with changing circumstances and any Government advice/measures and we will keep customers informed of any changes.
