HMO Public Register

The Housing (Scotland) Act 2006 Part 5 requires Fife Council to keep a register containing information about HMO licences for living accommodation situated in its locality and applications for them.

You will find details of Fife Council’s HMO Public Register on this page. To search for a particular property or see what is licensed in a particular street press Ctrl F. The latest valid HMO licence applications submitted to Fife Council can be found on the Weekly Notifications.

You can also notify HMO Licensing regarding any property that you believe is being operated as an HMO and which is not detailed on the HMO Public Register. Alternatively you may be having a problem with a property which is licensed.  Any information you pass on to us can be given anonymously. This information will help us deal with landlords who are flouting the law or where they are not managing their licensed house effectively.

For ease of use, the HMO Public Register now only captures decisions made on HMO applications for a 5-year period. The register can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. If you require a full Public Register history, please contact HMO.licensing@fife.gov.uk directly.

Please note that Fife Council must exclude from its HMO Public Register any information that is likely to jeopardise:

(a) the safety or welfare of any person, or

(b) the security of any premises.

The Public Register will be updated four times throughout the year.

Note: the updated Public Register will be available a week after the previous quarter ends.

If you require further information on the register or other aspects of HMO licensing, please contact the HMO Licensing Team:
