How and when you'll get paid
The first date a school clothing grant will be paid for the 2026/27 session is 16 July 2026. For applications processed after this date, payment will be made the following week.
We aim to process your application within 5 working days of receiving it. You will receive payment for the school clothing grant after this.
The school clothing grant is £130.00 per child for primary school pupils and £160.00 per child for high school pupils.
If you are entitled to a school clothing grant, a payment will be made direct into your bank account. If you are entitled to free school meals, we will notify your child’s school.
During Summer Holidays
If your child receives free school meals based on benefit entitlement, you will get a payment of £13.00 per week (£2.60 per day) during the summer holidays.
Payments will be made into your bank account from Wednesday 8 July.
There's no need to apply separately.
If they are in Primary 6 or 7 or S1 to S3 and receiving free school meals based on the Scottish Child Payment, you will not receive this payment.
