Applying for the grant

You can apply using the online form available on this page.

You will need to apply if:

• this is your first time applying
• you have a younger child starting school and you already have older children receiving this award
• your child is in P6-7 or S1-3, based on the Scottish Child Payment
• your child is continuing onto S5 or S6

If your child is already receiving free school meals and/or a school clothing grant, you do not usually need to reapply for each school year. We will send you a letter by the end of July to confirm your ongoing eligibility.

If you do not receive this letter, you should reapply just in case.

If you've applied before 1st May for the term starting after the summer, then you will need to reapply.
