Community Sports grants

Community Sports grants are available in two categories:

  • Individual Athlete Sports Grant
  • Coaches and Sports Officials Training Grant

Grants are discretionary and you can only submit one funding request per category in any financial year (1st April to 31st March).

1. Individual Athlete Sports grant

Who can apply

Grants are available to support individual sports people in Fife who are competing at District, Regional or National level. It can help with the costs of competitions and training, for example:

  • competition fees
  • travel costs at standard rate
  • accommodation costs up to £25 per night
  • additional training costs incurred as a representative of a Fife, Regional or National squad

Criteria

To be eligible for an Athletes grant, you must:

  • live in Fife
  • not be eligible for lottery sports fund talented athlete programme or talented identification programme
  • be participating in sports with a SportScotland recognised Governing Body
  • show a letter of selection or approval and endorsement by the respective National Governing Body of Sport
  • submit applications prior to the training/competition commencing

No awards will be made in retrospect.

Calculation of award

You can receive a grant of up to 50% of the total costs, up to a maximum of £180. You may be subject to a random check on grant information provided.

2. Coach and Sports Officials Training grant

Who can apply

Grants are available to encourage, support and promote the training and development of sports coaches and officials.

To be eligible for this scheme, you must:

  • live in Fife
  • be volunteering within a sports club with a SportScotland recognised Governing Body
  • provide confirmation from your sports club that you're attending the course for the benefit of the Club, via supporting letter or email
  • submit applications prior to the course/workshop commencing

No awards will be made in retrospect

Criteria

The grant will only be awarded on proof of attendance and successful completion of the course or workshop.

Calculation of award

You can receive a grant of up to 50% of the total course costs, up to a maximum of £200.

You will be allowed two consecutive awards, then a rest year will be expected before you can reapply for funding assistance.
