Weighbridge Testing

Weighbridge Test Unit

Fife Trading Standards administers the weighbridge test unit scheme. The vehicle is used by the 16 Scottish local authorities in the scheme to test all the weighbridges in their area to ensure compliance with the Weights and Measures Act 1985.

The vehicle is specially designed for the carriage of calibrated heavy weights for testing weighbridges and other high capacity weighing equipment.

The vehicle & driver can be hired by businesses for the verification, calibration or servicing of weighbridges and other heavy weighing equipment.

Weighbridge Operators Certificate

If you make your weighbridge available as a public weighing service, for which you levy a charge, you must hold a certificate which shows you have the required knowledge and skills to carry out this function.

A certificate will be issued by the Chief Inspector of Weights and Measures on the successful completion of a theory and practical test.
