Counterfeit goods

Do you know of someone selling counterfeit goods such as tobacco, alcohol, designer clothes and footwear, electronics, jewellery, medicines, or cosmetics?

The Trading Standards team investigates complaints to prevent the sale of counterfeit goods in Fife to protect genuine businesses and consumers.

Counterfeit goods will not have undergone the same stringent safety checks as genuine products, so could be potentially dangerous.

It’s a serious crime to sell fake goods, with maximum penalties of up to 10 years in prison or an unlimited fine.

If you want to report someone you suspect is selling counterfeit goods, you can do so by emailing us at trading.standards@fife.gov.uk

If you’ve bought goods that you think are counterfeit, contact Advice Direct Scotland's helpline on 0808 164 6000 to speak to an advisor or online Contact - Consumer advice. Further help and information can be found at their Knowledge Centre.
