Service UpdateDue to adverse weather today (Friday 4th December) there may be some disruption to our bin collection service and some bins may not be collected. Please leave your bin out and we'll return to pick up as soon as possible. Please bear with us while we try to catch up with any backlog. Thank you!
We operate a 4 bin waste collection and recycling service for the majority of residents in Fife. Below is a brief outline of the services we provide.
You can check your bin collection dates online
Bin material changes
We have changed some of the items to put in your bins, See the changes to your bins below or download our Fife Recycling Guide attached to this page.
Green bin changes
The following items are no longer recycled in the green and should go into the landfill (blue) bin.
- Plastic bags and films
- Plastic wrappers (e.g. biscuit/crisp bags)
Grey bin changes
Drinks and food cartons are now recycled in the green bin.
Other information to note:
- Bins should be out by 6am on collection day and left out until 9pm or when emptied
- Bin lids should be closed, or we may not empty the bin
- We will not collect any extra bags, boxes or other waste placed at the side of the bin
We can help if you are unable to put your bin out for collection and have no-one to help you. You may be able to get an assisted collection service if you are elderly or disabled. This is also known as 'take out and return'.
To request a 'take out and return' call the Recycling Helpline on 03451 55 00 22.
If you have previously reported a damaged bin, or requested a new bin(s) and there hasn’t been a repair/delivery within the given time scales, then please contact Fife Council via:
