Overview
If you find yourself struggling for food there are various options throughout Fife that will allow you to access food for free or at a low cost.
Foodbanks
Food banks are non-profit organisations run by the Trussell Trust, they offer short-term emergency food support. All food is received in donations, sorted by volunteers and made into parcels.
Foodbanks throughout Fife (except Kirkcaldy) are referral only. For more information on accessing a foodbank, you can:
- call Citizens Advice and Rights Fife (CARF) on 03451 400 095
- visit one of our face to face support with money and benefits advice sessions
Kirkcaldy area foodbanks
If you live in the Kirkcaldy area, including Bowhill and the Wemyss villages you can self refer yourself to one of the Kirkcaldy foodbanks.
Other food initiatives in Fife
If you are unable to access a foodbank there are other initiatives available throughout Fife where you can get access to free or low-cost food which include:
- Community Pantries, Fridges and Larders
- Community Cafés
- Local Churches
- Community Hubs/Centres
- Charitable organisations
