A long-term empty home is a privately owned residential property that has been empty for 6 months or more.

Our Empty Homes Service helps owners, neighbours and communities bring long-term empty homes back into use.

We can:

  • offer support to owners
  • help contact hard-to-trace property owners
  • support neighbours and communities affected by an empty home

We cannot:

Reporting an empty home

We can only investigate empty private homes. If you know of or have an issue with a privately owned house that has been empty for 6 months or more, let us know.
