Our Vision for all learners at Tayport Primary is that they are “On TRACK to a bright future”. This vision and refreshed values were created in consultation with families, staff, children and the community during 2021-22 school improvement work.

OUR AIMS –

Everyone at Tayport Primary will:

• be welcomed into a safe, positive and caring environment, where relationships will be fostered and valued, and trust built.
• develop the skills of great learners who are mindful of the difference they can make to their immediate and wider community.
• experience an engaging, relevant, responsive, and creative curriculum.
• be supported in their learning to be on track to a bright future.

The imposing Victorian frontage dates from 1875, with further sections dating from 1939. Initially the school ran both a primary and secondary programme, although the infants were accommodated at the building which is now Ferryport Nursery on William Street. In 1967, when junior secondary schools were closed, Tayport became a primary school and the older pupils were sent to Madras College in St. Andrews.

Outside we have an extensive hard surfaced playground area to the front and rear of the school. The children love playing on the Trim Trail and the painted exercise trail and we have lots of games and toys that come out at lunchtime. During October 2021 an infant outdoor learning area has started to be developed.

• 9 am - School starts
• 10:40 am - 10:55 am - Morning break
• 12:35 pm - 1:20 pm - Lunch break
• 3 pm - School ends

School Uniform is grey or black skirt, pinafore, trousers or shorts, grey or red sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan. White polo shirt or white blouse/shirt and school tie.  Shoes should be dark coloured and suitable for running around in the playground in the winter.

PE kit - plain t-shirt (that can be tucked in) and dark shorts.  No vest or cropped tops.

No hoodies please – these are a privilege of our P7 leavers and they will buy them through the school. No jeans or clothing with football/sports team insignia – thank you.

Many children like to wear a red and white summer dress in the warmer weather.
