Strathmiglo Primary School
- Primary School
Monday - Thursday 7.00 a.m. - 5.30 p.m.; Friday 7.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.
The School was opened on the present site in 1873. The school is co-educational and non-denominational, being the only school in the village. The school enjoys a scenic view to the Lomond Hills.
The main building houses four classrooms, a small hall, an office, a staff room and a resource room. We also have two huts. Primary 1/2 currently occupies the Medway Hut. More recently a purpose built nursery was added. The nursery has a morning session. The school playground is tarmac. There is also a large grassed area which the school makes use of in the summer. The school and nursery have a controlled entry security system operated from the office.
At present we have a P.T.A. known as F.O.S.P.S. (Friends Of Strathmiglo Primary School). We also have a Pupil Council, which meets regularly to discuss items of interest to pupils.
We provide opportunities for extra curricular activities. These include netball and football. Primary 6/7 pupils have the chance of participating in a residential outdoor education programme at the Ardroy Centre near Lochgoilhead. We are always pleased to meet with parents who wish to discuss any aspect of our school. We aim to create a positive and supportive ethos where pupils, parents and staff work in partnership. In this way we aim to meet the highest standards.
The School enjoys regular visits from Music, P.E., Drama and Art teachers. There is also a woodwind instructor. Presently we have a Learning Support Teacher one and a half days per week.
