St Josephs R C Primary School
- Primary School
St. Joseph's Primary is a Catholic school and was built in 1960. It is co-educational and one of two primary schools in Kelty. Although Catholic in ethos the school has a very high proportion of children (in fact the majority) who are not Catholic but who are here through parental choice.
The main school building houses 7 classrooms, dining hall (including stage), office accommodation, staffroom and the headteacher' s office. A controlled entry system operates on all external doors. The playground, while small, ensures effective supervision by adults and a nearby grassed football pitch is available in the Summer months.
Our school aims are on display in the foyer but our main aim is to create an environment where pupils, parents and staff can work together to meet the needs of all children - emotional, physical, social, cultural, spiritual and academic.
The Expressive Arts curriculum is enhanced by regular visits from Music, Drama, P.E. and Art specialists. We have children from P5 – P7 who are currently being taught the cello and we have a part-time learning support teacher.
Our Parent Council is a valued part of our school and holds fundraising events throughout the year. Our Parent Council meets regularly and welcomes attendance at meetings from interested parents. Our Pupil Council is well-established and discusses issues which are seen as important by our children as does our eco committee.
The P7 pupils have a residential week in the Term 4 where they have an opportunity to meet pupils from the other cluster primaries sending children to our Secondary School St. Columba's in Dunfermline. Our Primary-Secondary liaison programme starts in P6 with a series of visits to St. Columba's.
We offer a range of extracurricular activities such as Football, Dancing, Glee Club and STEM Club.
We aim to deal with any parental concern or worry the same day it is raised with the school and we are happy to meet with parents at any time.
