Parental partnership at St Columba’s means working together. Parents, carers and school staff collaborate through open and unrestricted communication to support our children’s learning and wellbeing.

Through the voice of the Parent Council, families can share views, raise concerns, contribute ideas and take part in school life. By listening, supporting events and working as a community, we ensure every parent voice is valued, heard and helps shape the school.

St Columba’s RC Primary is a PPE school built in 2007 on the old Bell Baxter Junior School site. There are 10 classrooms available, currently 9 are used, and various other smaller rooms used as creative and nurturing spaces. There is a music room and library, dinner hall and large gym hall.

There are smaller spaces for staff offices, two medical rooms and community lounge. The playground has a garden including outdoor prayer space, large playground and grass area. There are a trim trail and other outdoor equipment for playtime activities. The surrounding area supports topic and outdoor learning and PE opportunities.

School Uniform

A School Uniform enhances the feeling of “belonging” to the school.

Our uniform also increases our security as it makes any intruder to our buildings or grounds easier to identify. We have strong support from parents in encouraging all children to wear uniform and nearly all children look very smart on a daily basis in their school uniform.

Uniforms can be purchased through the suppliers below and delivered directly to your home address.   Please note that we do not stock uniform in the school.

PUPILS ARE ENCOURAGED TO WEAR:

• Black or grey trousers / skirt
• White / burgundy polo shirt or white shirt / blouse
• School tie (when wearing a shirt / blouse)
• Burgundy or grey sweatshirt / cardigan

FOR P.E ALL CHILDREN MUST WEAR:

• white short-sleeved, round-necked T shirt
• black shorts
• black slip-on plimsolls

OTHER OPTIONAL ITEMS ARE:

• winter reversible jacket
• school bag
• Girls may wear a red checked summer dress with white socks in warmer weather.
