Pitteuchar East Primary School and Nursery Centre serve the south side of Glenrothes, once called a new town but now becoming an older, more established place to live. Around 400 pupils, aged 3 to 12 years, attend the school and most live in streets named after Scottish castles such as Mar, Dunbeath, Tantallon, Cluny and Crathes. The school aims to prepare children for the world of tomorrow while taking account of our rich heritage and traditions.

Every year more than half the pupils take part in a festival of Scottish dance; older pupils visit the West Coast for an outdoor residential week and groups of pupils visit local homes for the elderly and disabled to learn and to present music, dance and songs.

Looking to the future the school has good provision for learning and teaching in Information and Communications Technology and links have been built with Adam Smith College (Glenrothes Campus) who arrange regular technology challenge events. Finally, looking to the wider world, the school has a link with Namadzi Primary School, Malawi, with plans to establish a Global Partnership and possible future 2-way exchanges of teachers to enable all pupils to learn about global issues and building a sustainable future.

The school and nursery centre was re-accredited with the standard for an Investor in People Award in 2007. A travel action plan has been implemented to make journeys to school safer and healthier, and the school is working towards the Silver Eco-School Award and has achieved Health Promoting School accreditation.

Our aim is to work with parents as partners for the benefit of all our pupils, hence our school motto, "Working Together, Achieving Together to Get it Right for Every Child."
