Lundin Mill Primary School
- Primary School
Monday - Friday 8 30 am - 4 00 pm
Lundin Mill Primary School was built in 1974. The main block is circular in shape. The six semi-open plan teaching areas all lead directly into the central hall, which is used for PE, drama, assemblies and school meals, with each pair of rooms sharing a tiled wet area and a set of toilets. The rooms are carpeted and have an outside wall mainly of glass which gives them a bright open feeling. In addition we have hutted accommodation which was added to cope with the rising roll.
The semi-open plan nature of the main building encourages classes to work together and enables children to get to know other staff and pupils. The school is situated in very attractive grounds and there is an extensive grass area which is used for outdoor activities.
Within our school grounds we have developed a wildlife garden. This area is used by classes to study insect and plant life. We are also developing other areas for growing our own foodstuffs.
Our nursery accommodation is in a hut within the school grounds. It has its own entrance and an outdoor play area. There are 20 places available in the morning session. We have two Early Years Officers and a teacher who we share with another establishment. We aim to provide a secure, happy and stimulating environment where pupils will acquire and develop the necessary skills and knowledge to enjoy a fulfilling life.
The staff at Lundin Mill work hard to provide extra curricular activities.
We feel that the school s role in the community is very important. As part of this we invite local people to visit the school and we encourage links with the local area.
At Lundin Mill we have a Parent Council which meets regularly throughout the year. The Committee consists of 14 elected parent members, 2 co-opted members and 2 staff representatives. The Parent Council supports the activities of the school.
On completion of their primary education pupils will normally transfer to Waid Academy, Anstruther.
We are always happy to welcome parents and visitors to the school.
