Dear Parent
Kingsbarns Primary School sits in the heart of the beautiful coastal village of Kingsbarns in the East Neuk of Fife. We pride ourselves on our warm, welcoming ethos where we value and welcome the whole family. We are a two class school and whilst we may be a small school, we definitely make our mark for our children and our community. Our pupils are proud of how they know everyone in the school and this helps to create a close knit school community. We make links with the Church and Cambo Estate. We also have a natural link with Canongate Primary in St Andrews due to the joint headship.
We value and recognise the important home, school partnership in achieving the best for all our learners. Staff and parents work together to offer a safe, motivating and nurturing environment for learning and for our wellbeing.
We encourage all children to have a voice in their learning and to have the opportunity to discuss and improve all aspects of school life. We have a strong focus on leadership across the school with all pupils in Primary 4-7 in leadership group roles and all children in the school having some responsibility for their classroom or beyond. Responsibilities include playground and peer mediation, sports leaders, digital leaders, curriculum supporters, buddying and other. We aim to get to know our children so we can identify barriers to learning quickly and offer tools and strategies to support independent learning or where appropriate use additional support where required.
We believe all children benefit from regular exercise. We can use the village hall and village green for sports. We work closely with Active Schools to offer a range of sporting activities and extra curricular sports in order to raise activity levels. We have participated in festivals / workshops including tennis, football, rugby, basketball, netball, hockey, athletics and swimming. Our Sports leaders also run clubs for younger children. All Primary 6/7 pupils have the opportunity to attend a week residential trip at an Outdoor Education Centre every other year.
We work hard to provide effective transitions at all stages. This may be nursery to P1, class to class and moving to secondary education. We have close links with our education partners and make sure that there are opportunities to visit and prepare for moving on. The Madras Cluster provide a range of activities and festivals along with specific transition events.
Yours sincerely
