The Vision, Values and Aims of the school reflect the school ethos. These are regularly reviewed to reflect the national picture from the National Improvement Framework and Scottish attainment Challenge.

In August 2017, we launched our new school logo which better reflects our vision, values and aims.

We have strong partnerships with our local High School, Beath, and with all local primary schools. We work closely with partners such as Active Schools, Fife Gingerbread, Ardroy Outdoor Education Centre, Police Scotland, Exxon, Grounds for Learning, Barnardos, our Parent Council and local community groups to support our curriculum and ensure high quality learning experiences for our children.

Cowdenbeath Primary School is a non-denominational school and nursery serving the area of Cowdenbeath. Our school caters for the mainstream education of primary and early years children from the age of two. The school is part of the Beath Cluster. We aim to provide an environment which is secure and stimulating; where children can pursue their learning with enjoyment and increasing independence.

Our school and nursery building was built in 1876 and was refurbished in 1902. The interior has improved over the last few years including the redecoration of corridors, quiet room and office space. Some classrooms have been updated and there has been new security doors installed. Each class benefits from upgraded digital projectors and Smart screens. We have invested heavily in ICT equipment. Learners benefit from an ICT suite, Netbooks and iPads to support learning. We also have a number of home working devices to ensue all of our learners have the opportunity to access learning from home if required.

The school is surrounded by a large playground which has tarmac, an outdoor learning area and a trim trail. We also use the surrounding community and woodland to further enrich the pupils’ experiences.

• Morning: 9.00am - 12.35pm
• Interval: 10.40am - 10.55am
• Midmorning: 10.55am - 12.35pm
• Lunch: 12.35pm - 1.20pm
• Afternoon: 1.20pm - 3.00pm

Acorn Room Nursery Hours (49 weeks):

• Morning Session
  Monday to Friday: 8am - 12.40am
• Afternoon Session
  Monday to Friday: 1:20pm – 6pm

Rainbow Room Under 3’s Nursery Hours (School Term Time):

• Monday to Friday: 8:30am - 11.40am

Allocation of space is based on priorities and a panel process to actual provision days and times can vary.

Our school uniform consists of:

• Blue sweatshirt / cardigan / jumper
• White or blue polo shirt or shirt
• Dark grey or black trousers / skirt

All items should be clearly labelled with child's name

School uniform embroidered with the school logo can be ordered from myclothing.com. There is a wide range of stock available and at a very reasonable price.

Non embroidered clothing can also be bought.

School ties can be purchased from the school office.

Gym Kit

• Shorts (not denim), jogging bottoms or leggings
• t-shirt and gym shoes
• absolutely no branded football team clothing

All items should be clearly labelled with child's name

Please note, gym kit should be worn to school on PE days.  PE could take place indoor or outdoor so please dress appropriately for the weather conditions and ensure that it is appropriate for taking part in physical activity.
