Burntisland Primary School
- Primary School
Burntisland School is a place of learning where the needs of individual pupils and staff are recognised and everyone is valued.
We offer the opportunity to become well educated, well balanced and independent and provide experiences that will help to prepare them for life.
Burntisland School is the only school in the town of Burntisland and therefore has the luxury of having a catchment area comprising of families from all over the town.
Although the majority of our buildings are old, we are proud of our school and the achievements we have made. We have five buildings, the oldest in being built in 1876 and the newest in 2000. Our nursery was opened in August 2000, purposely built to accommodate pre-school and ante pre-school pupils. Having several buildings does potentially cause difficulties with resourcing and security, both aspects we feel we have addressed successfully.
Our school roll is normally around 690, which includes 160 nursery pupils. This gives rise to 19 primary classes.
We have excellent community links within our town and boast very good relationships with the Parent Council. Our Pupil Council meets regularly to discuss issues raised by the pupils.
We have a Breakfast Club and a wide range of extra-curricular activities on offer:
- Football P7, Top Activity
- Choir, Knitting, Gardening and Story Clubs
We aim to:
- Provide a high quality education that motivates pupils to learn and develop skills, aptitudes and talents for life.
- Create a positive ethos within a welcoming environment.
- Respect the talents and uniqueness of each individual.
To develop strong links with parents and the wider community.
