Anstruther Primary School is a new school opened in 2003. The building of the school was part of Fife Council's first phase of PPP (Public Private Partnership) and provides up to date, modern, educational facilities for the townships of Anstruther and Cellardyke. The school is further enhanced by the superb views it enjoys from its site above the town of Anstruther, one of the picturesque fishing towns nestling in the East Neuk of Fife.
The new school is now the only primary school in the Anstruther area and has replaced Cellardyke and Anstruther Wester primaries. It is a co-educational and non-denominational school. It has 14 spacious classrooms, a 60/60 nursery, a large PE/Assembly hall, an IT Suite, a dining hall and various other purpose built rooms. We also enjoy the facilities that a large campus and sports hall shared with The Waid Academy provide.
Our aim is to provide an ethos of equality of opportunity, a caring environment where children learn respect for themselves and others and where pupils, parents and staff work together to provide the highest possible standard of education for all pupils.
We provide a broad and balanced curriculum and encourage our pupils to be environmentally aware. As part of our policy on developing a health promoting environment, sporting and outdoor activities are encouraged. Music also plays an important part in the life of the school and instrumental tuition currently violin and double bass is on offer to pupils throughout the school.
The Parents Council's contribution to the life of the school is well recognised and valued.
We are a busy school and all visitors are given a warm welcome. Developing a positive partnership with parents and the wider community is of the utmost importance to us.
